Favorite Day Of The Week

Today has been a pretty good day. I took the 2 little ones to Sunday school and church this morning and I went to evening services by myself. I really look forward to Sundays now. They are my favorite day of the week. However there are a few things about Sundays that I could live without. It is the chaos before church when I want to go and others in the home refuse to go and they seem to try everything they can to make it more difficult. I don't even think it is on purpose. I won't give in and stay home so there is a weekly struggle. It is difficult not to get resentful. All I can do is pray that things will get better and someday we may all be sitting in the pew together. Until then I will keep going and taking my boys every week. Part of the sermon today was about teaching our children about God just like we teach them to throw a ball and play catch and all the things we teach our kids. I am trying to teach Patrick and Nathan by taking them to Sunday school an reading stories to them. Patrick told me last night that we were going to have to read 3 stories because we had skipped 2 nights. He is keeping track and keeping me accountable. He is a pretty smart kid for 7 years old. The things he prays for just crack me up sometimes. I am sure we have covered all of the cartoon characters ever invented, but I let him pray for whatever he wants. Well it is time for baths, stories and bedtime prayers. Hope your Sunday was pretty good too.

Stacie - my heart breaks for you. I have the same Sunday dilemma. It is my favorite day of the week by far. I love to be with my church family. My husband sometimes does not want to go with us. It gets harder when the children say, "why isn't Daddy going?" and harder still when they say, "well, I don't want to go today, I think I'll just stay home with Daddy."
It makes for awful Sunday mornings! I actually behaved very badly yesterday morning. I found myself yelling at everyone, because I was mad at my husband. Not a pretty thing.
So I feel for you.

Memories, memories, sweet (sic) memories! :)

When I finally began to do bathes at night; laying out all the clothes, from inside out; laying out everything for breakfast, and overcoming my compulsive obsessive need to make the beds and clean up the kitchen before leaving the house, Sunday morning was still a zoo. I promise you, however, that once memory muscle and habit set in, it will get better, or maybe I just became inured to the chaos. ;)

I wish I could think of the verse where it tells us if we raise them in the church, our kids will come back if they fall away!! I KNOW it's hard, but God's gonna bless it! I enjoyed reading your blog!!
